Meet the Michigan Breastfeeding Network Team


Jane Whiteacre -- Executive Director

Jane is a lifelong social justice and children's advocate with a passion for serving others and creating collective impact to solve community-based problems. In addition to being a pioneer of the local food movement in Michigan, Jane was a founder of the Food Bank Council of Michigan and the Michigan Food Policy Council. She holds a Master's degree in Public Administration. Jane has extensive experience as a nonprofit executive and in program development.

Shannon McKenney Shubert, MPH, CLS -- Project Manager

Shannon has 10+ years experience in consulting and program management including previous roles as a WIC Coordinator at the CHASS Center in Detroit, a consultant for Nemours Office of Child Healthy Policy and Advocacy in Washington D.C. and as the lead consultant for a national non-profit consulting team. She is currently serving as Chair of the Wayne County Breastfeeding Coalition; a project manager for Coffective; and is the Midwest Coalitions Regional Representative for the United States Breastfeeding Committee. Shannon earned her Masters in Public Health Management and Policy from the University of Michigan and her undergraduate degrees from Michigan State University. Shannon is honored to have the opportunity to serve MIBFN and its members.

Kirsten Douglass, CLC -- Project Manager

Kirsten comes to the MIBFN with 15+ years of Marketing, Promotions and Events experience - working primarily in the automotive industry. Her passion for supporting mothers through their breastfeeding journey came after her own breastfeeding experiences and challenges.  She is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and also works as a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. Kirstenholds a BA in Communications from Oakland University and a AA in Sign Language Interpreting.  Kirsten is grateful for the opportunity to join the MIBFN.


Millie Pruchnic -- Communications Specialist

Millie is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, earning her degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design. She has more than 10 years of experience working in marketing departments and has a passion for breastfeeding advocacy. As a mother of two, Millie knows first hand the importance of providing support for breastfeeding mothers. She is excited to contribute to breastfeeding education and advocacy in Michigan and is grateful to be a part of the MIBFN team.
