Coalition Building

Why Coalition Building?

Coalition building is an important step in harnessing the power of local communities to spur positive change and advance public health outcomes. There is a movement underway throughout Michigan to support systems-level change for breastfeeding and it depends on the diverse voices of coalition members. Currently, Michigan has 22 coalitions in a state with 83 counties. We envision a Michigan in which all communities receive culturally-aware support to dismantle the roadblocks that derail breastfeeding success.
